Plugs
He probably won't appreciate me saying so, but
this is just too endearing for words (put it into
context first, though).
If anyone happens to be at a loose end in London on Saturday afternoon (yeah, right), it's the winter Aerial & Acrobatic day (a sort of informal end-of-term show for people who do the adult evening classes) at The Circus Space from about 2.30 to 5.30.
I'm meant to be on the flying trapeze at about 3.15, although these things are always a bit haphazard, so who knows? On current form I'll be outstandingly crap (notably worse than six months ago, dammit), and the overall quality may be rather hit and miss, but there will undoubtedly be some fun stuff in there along the way.
If all else fails, the finale by "The Optimists" (scheduled for about 5.00) will show the rest us how it should be done. Also, their hunky catcher is a sight to behold, so come along and drool.

If my allowances for the time change are correct, you go on in about an hour. Break a leg!
And of course they weren't. You go on in about two hours. But still break a leg.
Gosh, I never realized the time difference to NY was so big ;)
(Actually I go on in a bit over 97 hours, but I shall certainly keep your wish in mind then.)
you can take evening classes in circus-ry. so cool! the closest offering here is a class in circuitry.
That was, really, rather delightful. Kudos.
Shame I can't operate his commenting system. Blahdy Java.
[Stairs] Ah yes. I'd forgotten that. I reported it to Chris a while back, but I guess he hasn't got around to looking at it yet.
It isn't Java: the comment link uses a javascript:popup() scriptlet that Mozilla and Safari block by default. In Safari you can toggle popup blocking off and on with command-K; in Mozilla you can configure it on or off on a per-site basis. Spriteboyworld has no other popups that I know of, so it's safe to enable them there, but if you don't know what's going on it just looks broken. I suspect a simple switch to window.open() would fix this, but I haven't had occasion to actually test that theory.
[aaron] Circuitry can be fun too :)
Flying trapeze is rare, because it needs a big space and rather specialized equipment -- and I suspect is very hard to insure -- but there are several places in London (and many other cities) that do classes in things like juggling, acrobatics and static trapeze.
Good point; I'd assumed that clicking was enough to move beyond the blocking of popups, but apparently not. I had the same problem on Patsy Stone (bluejay.blogspot), but cmd-k made no difference there, so I figured it was the same situation. It isn't.
Nervous for you; I hope it all goes well on Saturday!
And he's off! Don't die, friend!
It's alright, everyone, you can relax. Breathe again. I lived.
