Outage

Sorry about the recent downtime, although I imagine it hurt me much more than it did you. The usual spambot vermin were to blame, along with general unresponsiveness on the part of my hosting company. The immediate problem should now be resolved, but in addition to removing the script that was actually under attack, I'm temporarily disabling comments as well in the hope of avoiding further trouble -- if you want to read the existing comments on an entry, go to the entry's individual archive page; if you want to post comments of your own, I'm afraid you're out of luck just now.

The search facility is off too, and probably a few other odds and ends; apologies for any broken links of "Internal Server Errors" you may encounter.

Normal service will be restored when I can be vaguely confident it's not going to get me shut down again. In the meantime, email me.

All of this is more aggravating than I can express, but we've been over that old song enough times around here and I really don't have the energy this time.
