Toys
For reasons unknown, today was a spree day. We took Ian's credit card out for a bit of exercise and got it pretty sweaty.
Let us set aside the prideful self-flagellation that, I should not need to mention, accompanied this. The recriminations of the kept man are, clearly, as worthless as that man himself. Instead, let us concentrate on the matter of acquisition, giving free rein to our inner Ferengi.
My goodbyes are never brief or to the point, but tonight I begin a lingering farewell to orestes, my antiquated TiBook. He has served me better than I could have ever hoped in the last three years -- a geological period in computing terms -- and will surely be kept busy for some while to come. Nevertheless, his successor -- nay, usurper -- is here. Say hello to the 17 aluminium inches of menelaus, whose first post you are reading right now.
Fuck me, setting up a new computer is a serious pain in the arse. There are so many little details that need transposing. Fair enough, I suppose. It took three years to get orestes to exactly the state I wanted him; can't expect menelaus to achieve the same overnight.
In case you're wondering, this was as nothing compared to the toy Ian bought himself.
Splendid episode of Angel, tonight, btw, in its finish especially. I always thought Tom Lenk was cute.
