Filler 44

There's not an awful lot to report, if I'm honest, but nevertheless I feel I should keep the old site ticking over.

I did a bit of development work over the weekend, a result of which is the first new Pollen release in at least two years. Among other changes, it's now built as a Universal Binary, so anyone with an Intel Mac should definitely give it a whirl. If you do, let me know how it goes.

The lecturer sprang an unexpected exam on us today -- an exam, FFS, I can't even remember the last one of those I had to do -- which was a bit of a depressing experience. I squandered about half the allotted 30 minutes on one question -- a stupid tactical mistake -- with the result that I only managed to finish half the paper. While I at least got right all the questions I answered, it was disheartening not to do more -- need to work on the speed. Hopefully next time I'll also be forewarned and, consequently, forearmed. Many of the other students were also caught off guard and did badly, but it's different for them: as I pointed out the other day, they're just kids.

This evening, after the gym, Ian and I met up with my mother, whose birthday it is, for a drink at the Oxo Tower, which was very nice. The main celebration was actually yesterday, with feasting and carousing late into the night -- which I suppose may also have contributed to my slowness this morning...

It works! It works! I use diamond shaped ones :>

You simply went slowly because you're reverting; as a student, the effects of inertia are more keenly felt, even when it comes to thought processes.

It's either that or you're getting crusty; take your pick.
Happy Birthday Mrs. Matt!
