Live to Tell
I certainly didn't expect to find myself at Wembley last night, but when the last minute opportunity arose it would have been churlish to turn it down. Say what you like about the old girl, but she really knows how to put on a show.Posted by matt at August 10, 2006 08:18 AM

Ooh, nice seats; we were right at the front of the N section, but a whole block over to your left, which makes a fair bit of difference. Envy, envy!
So you liked the show, overall? It was impressive, though some of her live mixes of classics didn't really compare to the classics themselves. Still, I loved the giant Madge-face on the video screen as she made her entrance; I've never heard... FELT... a crowd roar like that! That was good enough for me.
Why, o why, o why, o why, o why, o why, o whyyyyy... didn't she sing Everybody instead of La Isla Bonita? The foreigners get the best, campest sets :>

I suspect what you lost out laterally was more than made up by being further forward -- we were a long way back.
Yes, I loved the show overall. I loved its scale and trashiness and energy, the dancing and acrobatics were great and most of the music was pretty good too. In fact, the only bit I didn't go much on was the opening equestrian foolishness, which seemed really clunky and lame.
Were it not for the grotesque expense and the general irksomeness of the Wembley experience I would cheerfully go again. But I shall wait for the DVD instead.

You lucky things!
I should have traded my old SEX book I acquired for a mere £20 eons ago, and now fetching hundreds, I've heard, for a ticket. I guess I will have to wait for the DVD as you said, but the experience of being there, well, that one I won't have.
Oh, so much trouble for just a couple of sentences! (you know what I'm talking about, matt)
Keep us posted, walky talky ;-)

Oh this is ridiculous. We should all have just gone together, since I've spent the entire day today trying to find someone to attend the damn' thing with me, and just wound up returning the big block of Corporate-sponsored tickets I had in favour of going with my flat-mate to the lesser seats. Damn it all. But it looks good.
