Preparation

I've embarked on a little historical adventure.

superman

It's one of the things I've had in the back of my mind while I've been cobbling together developing this site. One of those bits of oral history I wanted to get set down somewhere, a locus of my anecdotage. An ego trip? A shrill cry for attention? Let's be charitable and call it: an archival exercise.

I had intended to make it a blog entry, but in the process of writing this preamble -- which is somehow a more clarifying act than sorting and scanning photos, or dredging through old emails and such -- I've pretty much convinced myself it needs to be an entity in its own right, albeit integrated into the main body of the site via links, cosmetic similarities of visual appearance and such like.

It will not, in the first place, be very complete -- though I hope it will become more so in time. But I think it is worth doing, or starting to do, because these things are so easily forgotten and the connections are so easily unmade. Historians of the future won't ever care about any of this, but I'd rather the thread was recorded somewhere all the same.

Speaking of connections, I can't decide whether it's just a coincidence that Shyboy and Eurodan (not, apparently, the only readers of WalkyTalky, but the only commentators so far) are both implicated. I had almost forgotten your involvement -- it seems such a long time ago -- but seeing the pics it flooded back. There we all were. And now here I am, and here you are, and it's just a bit odd, that's all.

Indeed... old marching boys never die, it seems. They just start a blog.
