Celebrations

It's Ian's birthday today. There are various activities scheduled, including lunch pretty soon, so I'll be brief.

Yesterday we went to visit some friends in the country outside Oxford, for a very nice meal, and some lounging around, and a walk. I was very tired from a late night before, and generally subdued, but it was a pleasant afternoon and a good day to get out of the city.

Saturday was the superhero wedding, which in the end Ian cried off, but I was there to fly the flag:

Christ it was hot in that outfit, even without a trenchcoat.

Saturday was also Soho Pride, or something like that, and also, coincidentally, one of Ian's co-workers was playing in a Jazz ensemble in Soho Square, so he went to that and I joined him after finishing at the wedding. Apparently Alastair was there too, though our paths didn't cross.

On Friday Ian got the results back from his grade 8 piano exam, which, after all the months of stress and anxiety, it turns out he passed comfortably, and there was much rejoicing.

And Thursday, I belatedly realise, was the first birthday of this blog. Hurrah!

I can't say I've been in a celebratory mood for any of this stuff, but I'm doing my best.

Happy Birthday Blog. Happy Birthday and congratulations Ian. Well done on the fancy dress Matt.

And *I* want to be Captain Scarlet (I had a crush on him when I was a kid :)

Okay, that was "I SAW someone..." Thank god I do not have a horrible hangover from SoHo Pride that causes me to eliminate words. Yes. Thank god that has not happened.

You certainly make a convincing Rorschach, though I wonder whether you took the time to talk like him? Too much work, I imagine, and no fun when it's a downhill battle against hot weather.
Soho pride was actually Sunday; the Saturday jazz thing was organised by Starbucks and was just a touch less clubby than Sunday was.

Though you and I came close to crossing paths, it was not as close as meZack and I did - twice. On Saturday night, he was among the folks within spitting distance of Darren Hayes somewhere beneath Charing Cross station (as was our crew), and on Sunday, he was sitting at the opposite corner of Soho Square to us. So near, so far... but just as well since his shirt was better than mine.

And just for a second there, I gasped aloud as I thought "Matt's boyfriend is in 8th grade?!?"

I seriously don't understand my mind sometimes.

Happy bloggy birthday, you. Here's to many more.
