Random 2

A broken umbrella wasn't really adequate protection from the scorching glare of the sun, but it was all I had to hand. Holding it shakily overhead, I limped out onto to the baked earth of the playing field and concentrated on trying not to fall down any of the larger cracks. Some of them are very deep, and they tend to shift around when you're not looking. Sneaky buggers.

Been awhile since this place has seen a decent game of rugby.

Wouldn't normally venture out here during the heat of the day but Miss G had a sudden craving for Thousand Island Dressing. One of those pregnancy things, you know? Anyway, the last case was in the back of the tuck shop's solar-powered refrigerator, so off I went.

The outward trip wasn't so bad, and I took the opportunity to grab a couple of Kit-Kats and a Creme Egg, but the wind got up after that. Dust storm engulfed the whole place, opaque and suffocating. The umbrella was the first thing to go.

When the wind died down again, I found myself stumbling around the Redgra. Seems like it ought to be physically impossible to get there without passing through Bartleby, but there you go. Life is full of little mysteries.

In any case, the dressing was warm and whiffy by then, and Miss G no longer wanted it.

She deigned to eat the Creme Egg.
