Metroland

Neasden!
Yer won’t be sorry that yer breezed in!
The traffic lights an’ yellow lines
An’ the illoominated signs
All say welcome to the borough that everybody’s pleased in

Somewhat unexpectedly, courtesy of Auntie Beeb, I found myself last night watching a whole stack of damn fine documentaries. Not entirely unexpected -- The Trap was planned -- but the run of Tube flicks on BBC4 kicked Adam Curtis's meretricious arse all the way to Verney Junction. Even the introlets by the usually emetic Robert Elms were surprisingly charming.

BBC4 really does make a decent attempt at being the last bastion of non-dumbed-down TV in this distressed decade. If only it had a science show to make up for the shameful betrayal of Horizon...

Whenever I need to induce vomiting, I usually just put on my roommate's Confessions Tour DVD.

How very true about BBC4. It's nice to know it's there whenever I'm in the UK, even if that's not all that often.
