Glorious Mud

This is a possibly-illicit rendering of one of the best SICM images yet obtained of a neuron. I expect some version of it to crop up in the literature before long, largely on account of its prettiness. It is essentially not much more than eye candy, but with luck some meaningful results will follow in due course. In the meantime, revel in its apparent physicality.

3D-rendered SICM image of a hippocampal pyramidal neuron

It's a hippocampal pyramidal cell: memories are made of this.

Jeezus. That thing gives me the hippocampal pyramidal willies.

Nothing like a multipolar neuron to send my glutamate levels rocketing; is this a Betz or a Martinotti, and can you explain the difference besides?

What he said... frightsville.

Hmm. My neuroanatomy is pretty weak, so probably not. Does such terminology even apply in the hippocampus?
