Filler 45

It's nearly 15 years since I last had to do any academic writing and the demands are unfamiliar. While I'm reasonably confident about the writing part, not so the academic. Which may be why, despite submitting relatively happily yesterday, I woke up about 5 o'clock this morning sweating with anxiety, convinced that the essay's glaring shallowness and lack of rigour would finally expose me for the glib dilettante I undoubtedly am.

Of course, the alcohol may have contributed as well.

In any case, some sense of perspective has been regained, thanks in part to the commenters on the last post -- I wasn't really expecting anyone to read the thing! -- and also to the cold light of day. It's only an essay, after all. It's not meant to be a cure for cancer.
