Lucky you. Meanwhile in NYC we're still drying out from a nor'easter, wearing sweaters and skulking around under heavy cloud cover.

The adult in me says Photoshop fun. The kid in me says the colors in your picture were/are/will continue to be real. The adult says that the flowers will eventually wilt. The kid responds with a precisely aimed fling of mashed potatoes. The adult sends the kid to the room. The kid screams that he never wanted to be born in the first place. The adult watches the kid leave the room and sinks back into his chair, clutching his tumbler of "water" and feels like a horrible person for feeling the same way.

Anyway, colors rock! Were they really that bright?

The tulips were that bright. I nudged up the blues a little because they were just overwhelmed otherwise, though they looked blue enough in the flesh. There was a little playing around with the texture too, partly because the saturated reds made me think of old magazine pictures and partly to dodge around the disappointingly low resolution -- I was using someone else's camera and didn't check the setting, which turned out to be a mere 640x480.

The whole thing was a comedy of errors, really -- this was my third attempt. I spotted the flowers walking home on Tuesday afternoon, but had only my phone camera with me. For some reason it crashed every time I tried to photograph these flowers, although it would take pictures elsewhere; perhaps it just couldn't cope with the sheer gaudiness of the scene. I went back on Wednesday with my own camera, only to find that it had stopped working altogether, no image at all, just blackness. Grrr. Borrowed Ian's and went again Thursday morning -- success. You can imagine my annoyance when I downloaded them and discovered their piffling size. Might have made a nice -- if distracting -- desktop picture otherwise.

I may have one more try if the sun returns in the next couple of days, but for the moment this will have to do. You get the general idea, anyway.
