Filler 46

I've started writing up Case Notes 7, and we've had one of the two presentations for Case 8 -- the other delayed because the presenter, a brain surgeon, was operating at the time -- but I must admit to a good deal less enthusiasm for this bunch than the ones before. Cases are already apportioned and I'll be essaying something related to number 6, though I have yet to identify an aspect that I can really get behind. Due date is four weeks out. Ack.

In the meantime, I've been catching up on some of last year's trash TV. Season 5 of 24 was jolly good fun in its usual demented and ludicrous way. The terminal phase of Alias, on the other hand, sucked, having long since abandoned even the vaguest gestures in the direction of making sense; it was almost as much of an exercise in keyhole plotting as Torchwood, enough to persuade me never to bother trying to get back to speed with Lost. Best of the bunch, despite the sometimes irksome soapiness and mysticism, was the second slice of The 4400, which is actually a wee bit intelligent rather than merely sensational. It'll never catch on.

Is it February already? Tsk. Still, pancake day soon. Must start getting my act together for that.
