Goin' South

The Christmas season always seems to catch me by surprise, and this last week or so has been no exception. I've managed only a fraction of the celebrations on offer, but those will suffice. The highlight was probably Wednesday's Smart lab outing to the Hyde Park "Winter Wonderland" -- a bit of an overstatement, that name -- to ice skate and other stuff. I will still be being teased this time next year for my efforts in the otherwise-child-dominated bungee dome, but fuck it, I had a good time. Assorted extended-family obligations have also presented, but that's all mostly done with now. There are just a few last loose ends to tie up before heading Ozwards tomorrow -- and given the heinously chilly conditions of late it will be not a minute too soon.

Hard to say whether posting will maintain even current abysmal levels during the trip, so I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a happy episolstitial festival of your choice, and the best New Year you can possibly have.

Be good, y'all.

Safe travels there and back, and have a Yule that's cool (as Satchmo would say).

Just be sure to take lots of pictures when you're up in the Blue Mountains, preferably with humanoids for a sense of scale.

And [cough], you really want to swim with potato cod. Hope you can fit something like that in, if at all possible ;)

Greetings from Greenwich Village!
