Hack

One of the variously vexatious things about the otherwise mostly marvellous iPhone is the way its jack socket is too slimline to accommodate almost all earphones other than those Apple provides. I actually rather like the Apple buds, but they are held in by little more than stubbornness; it takes only a bare minimum of lubricious perspiration to ungrip them, making them rather ill-suited to use during exercise, at least for those of us with sweaty ears.

Belkin make an adapter, but it is absurdly oversized and generally fugly. Fortunately, the situation can instead be resolved with some very easy knife work:

slightly truncated headphone jack

Trimmed of a few millimetres of outer rubberwear, these Sennheisers become a perfect fit, and satisfyingly slip-free. The search for the perfect earphones continues, of course, but in the meantime these will do to be going on with...
